過去的,拿來做參考,
What has happened or done in the past can be used for today’s reference.
現在的,要冷靜地處理,
What is happening now should be calmly and sensibly dealt with.
未來的,莫要想得太遠;
Do not think too much about what will happen in the future.
換句話說,過去的任它過去,
That is to say, let bygones be bygones.
未來的變化難測,
Things in the future are hard to predict.
唯有把握住每一個現在
What one can take control of is every fleeting moment of the present.
纔是人生旅程中不可忽視了的事實。
This is the fact that one should not neglect in the journey of one’s life.
布施不是憐憫的施捨,
The Buddhist way of charity is not donations for objects of pity.
亦不是同情的給予,
Nor is it emergency relief by sympathy.
而是仁愛之心的擴大;
It is the expansion of a humane and benevolent heart,
進展為人溺猶己溺,他苦若自苦,
Which develops deep empathy for the miseries and sufferings of others.
怨親平等的佛菩薩行為。
From such a heart, the Buddhas and the Bodhisattvas treat
their beloved ones and their enemies without discrimination.
夜來,當你尋夢之前,
At night, before you go to bed and have some sweet dreams,
不是向上蒼祈求一些什麼,
It is time not to pray to gods for what you desire
而是要檢討自己一天的言與行;
But to reflect and examine your own remarks and deeds of the day.
對了的應該保有,
You should keep on making the right remarks and doing the right deeds.
錯了的趕緊改過。
However, you must correct the wrong remarks and deeds when perceiving them
and make sure that you will not make the same
